Helping Patients and families
Highland Hospice Celebrates 21st Birthday!
Find out How you can Support Your Highland Hospice

Palliative care is the care of patients for whom there is no possibility of cure. We help improve the quality of life that remains.
We recognise the value and uniqueness of every individual. We believe that it is possible to achieve a sense of well-being in the face of a life threatening illness. We also support the patient’s family during the illness and into bereavement afterwards.
Facilities in the Hospice include:
- A 10-bed in-patient unit
- A day centre for patients well enough to come in for day care and return home in the evening
- Treatment rooms for example for physiotherapy, aromatherapy and acupuncture
- An arts & crafts room for Occupational Therapy activities like painting, pottery and even mosaic and stained glass making
- A children’s room for the youngest relatives of patients. This is made as friendly as possible, with toys, TV and teddy bears, so that children will not feel frightened by their experience.
- A flower room where the many bouquets for patients are sorted and arranged by volunteers
- A hairdressing salon for patients
- A room for meditation and spiritual reflection.
- Beautifully kept gardens next to the River Ness
